REP Fitness Attachments Guide: J-Cups, Crossmembers, and What Fits
REP Fitness attachments are sold by rack series, so match the series before anything else. The 1000 Series uses 2 x 2 inch tube with 1 inch holes, the 4000 Series uses 3 x 3 inch tube with 5/8 inch holes, the 5000 Series uses 3 x 3 inch tube with 1 inch holes, and Altitude has its own line. Buy j-cups and safeties first. As of Nov 2026, j-cups list from about $60 to about $160 a pair. See our power rack guide for basics and our REP Fitness brand guide for warranty terms.
How REP Fitness attachments fit
Three numbers decide fit: tube size, hole size, and hole spacing. Depth matters too, because safeties come in lengths that match your crossmembers.
Tube and pin size, to scale
The 1000 and 5000 lines share a pin size but not a tube.
Hole spacing, to scale
Closer holes give finer bar height. Bench zone length is schematic.
Lowered j-cups on a 5000 upright
Swapping cups moves the bar 1 inch.
REP Fitness describes its 3 x 3 inch tube as 75 x 75 mm, while Bells of Steel’s true 3 inch tube measures 76.2 mm, which is one reason to avoid mixing brands. Used buyers should check the holes: the Athena page says the original PR-5000, discontinued in 2020, alternated 5/8 and 1 inch holes.

From REP Fitness product pages, Nov 2026. Altitude's line isn't cross-compatible. A dash means no version listed, or the maker says it doesn't fit.
The SR-4000 uses 4000 Series parts but won’t take safeties or cable attachments, though its page lists Spotter Arms as an option. If you want a particular cable system, confirm it before you pick a rack.
REP Fitness j-cups
The 3 x 3 inch cups below list 1,000 lb, and the 1000 Series cups list 700 lb. REP Fitness’s j-cup guide says those are the only cups for 1000 Series racks.
| Style | Good for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 2.0 | Most lifters, lowest cost | Less bar protection |
| Flat Sandwich 2.0 | Oversized and specialty bars | Extends 6 in. off the rack |
| Round Sandwich 2.0 | A bar that stays put | Bars under 50 mm only |
| Lowered 2.0 | 1 in. height steps on 5000 racks | Pairs only with 5000 Standard cups |
Who each suits is our judgment. Specs are the maker's.
For the Lowered trick, you need both a Standard and a Lowered pair, then you pick whichever gives the right height. A PR-4000 doesn’t need it for pressing, since its bench zone already has 1 inch spacing.
REP Fitness rack attachments
Most buyers add safeties next, then whatever they’ll actually use.
- Pin-pipes: The cheapest safety option.
- Strap Safeties 2.0: Maker-rated to 1,000 lb on 5000 racks. Front and rear can be offset so a dropped bar rolls away. The 4000 Series uses the original design.
- Flip-Down Safeties 2.0: For 5000 racks with 30 or 41 inch depth, including the Omni.
- Dips: The Drop-In lists 810 lb across two uprights on 4000 or 5000 racks, and the Dip Attachment 2.0 lists 500 lb on 5000 racks.
- Lat and low row: It needs a Rear Base Stabilizer and adds 3.3 inches of height, so check your ceiling.
- ISO Arms: Outside the rack only, with limited range on 80 inch uprights.
One conflict to flag: the PR-5000 page says ISO Arms or Spotter Arms need bolts and Front Foot Extensions at any depth. The newer Spotter Arms 2.0 page treats extensions as the minimum for a free-standing 4-post rack. We’d follow the stricter rule unless the maker tells you otherwise in writing.
REP Fitness crossmembers
Crossmembers set your rack’s depth, and series differences show up here too.
- PR-4000: 16, 24, 30, or 41 inches, with 5/8 inch holes on the sides. Ares 2.0 and Athena need the 16 inch type with vertical holes.
- PR-5000: 16, 30, or 41 inches, with 1 inch holes on the top, bottom, and sides.
- Logo plate: Required on both racks. The 5000 Series 2.0 comes in three styles, and the PR-4000 page says the larger PR-5000 plate doesn’t fit.
- Rack connectors: These 72 and 82 inch spans tie 5000 racks together.
- 26 inch: Made so a side-mount cable system and a Smith machine can share a 4-post Summit.
Depth also affects stability: a Rear Base Stabilizer removes the bolt-down requirement only with 41 inch crossmembers, and it can’t be used with Ares.
REP Fitness bench attachments
Fit runs by bench model, and the leg attachments below name only a few REP Fitness benches.
REP Fitness Nighthawk attachments
- Bench Leg Roller 2.0: Fits the BlackWing, Nighthawk, AB-5000, and AB-5100. It adds decline work and Nordic curls at bodyweight, adds 16 inches of length, and must come off before vertical storage.
- Leg Extension and Leg Curl: Its page names the Nighthawk, BlackWing, and AB-5000, and rules out the AB-5200 2.0. It takes plates, bands, or a cable with an optional kit, up to 250 lb in total. The rear adapter stays bolted on and can limit incline use with an Ares 2.0 foot plate.
- Leg Developer with Dialed Motion: A cable-only collaboration that adds seated leg curls. It showed no price on our check date, so confirm availability.
The Nighthawk page says it doesn’t take the current wide pad. For bench specs, see our adjustable bench guide.
REP Fitness accessories: what to buy first
| Order | Buy | Why | Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | J-cups | The rack needs them | Series, bar diameter |
| 2 | Safeties | Essential if you lift alone | Length matches depth |
| 3 | Pull-up bar | Cheap and useful | Ceiling, cable clash |
| 4 | Dip or landmine | Few extra floor inches | Depth added |
| 5 | Cable system | Biggest cost and footprint | Depth, posts, ceiling |
The order is our judgment. It assumes a bare rack, so skip whatever your package includes.
The pre-selected PR-5000 entry package already includes j-cups, pin-pipes, and a pull-up bar. For handles, see our cable attachment storage guide.
REP Fitness parts and spares
Replacement parts sit in a spares section, arranged by product line, including older racks like the PR-1000. We couldn’t find a current product page for that rack, so confirm parts before buying one used.

Safety
- Check used straps. A 2021 CPSC recall covered about 1,940 PR-4000 and PR-5000 strap safety brackets, sold April through December 2020, after three reports of brackets breaking. No injuries were reported.
- Set safeties for your lift. REP Fitness suggests an inch or two under your chest at the bottom of a bench press. Test with an empty bar.
- Seat every pin. Make sure each attachment is fully hooked before you load the bar.
- Get advice if you’re injured. With a back or shoulder condition, ask a physician or physical therapist before heavy work.
FAQ
Will REP Fitness j-cups fit another brand's rack?
The maker won't guarantee it, citing machining differences, and its warranty policy says using other brands' products can void coverage. Treat any third-party fit as your own risk.
Do PR-4000 attachments fit a PR-5000?
Generally no. Both use 3 x 3 inch tube, but the PR-4000 uses 5/8 inch pins and the PR-5000 uses 1 inch pins, so most parts come as separate versions.
What attachments work with the REP Fitness Nighthawk bench?
The Adjustable Bench Leg Roller Attachment 2.0 at about $170 and the Leg Extension and Leg Curl Bench Attachment at about $550.
Do I need a logo plate crossmember?
Yes, on the PR-4000 and PR-5000. REP Fitness requires it as the top rear brace. The 5000 version doesn't fit a PR-4000.
Can I get 1 inch hole spacing on a PR-5000?
For the bar, effectively yes. Swap between Standard and Lowered J-Cups 2.0, since the lowered cup sits 1 inch below the standard one on the same hole. Safeties still follow the 2 inch holes.
