Punch Fitness Equipment: Bags, Gloves, Wraps, and Mounts
Punch fitness equipment means a bag, a way to support it, plus gloves and wraps. A basic home setup with wraps, bag gloves, and a freestanding bag lists for about $140. Decide on the support first. If you searched for “punchfit equipment,” that name belongs to an Australian course brand, with no bag line under it that we could find. Our conditioning equipment guide shows how boxing compares with other tools.
Punchfit equipment: what the name refers to
“Punchfit equipment” looks like a brand search, so we checked. On Punch Equipment’s site, Punchfit is the training arm. Its Punchfit page describes boxing courses for trainers and the public, and says one managing director runs both Australian-owned businesses. A search of that site for “punchfit” on Nov 5, 2026 returned courses, books, and shirts, with the bags and gloves under other Punch lines. The Punchfit web address redirected to the Punch store. We couldn’t read a trademark record, so this rests on the company’s own pages.
Punch prices are in Australian dollars, so they aren’t in our tables. We aren’t affiliated with these companies.
Heavy bags
Compare the shape, the hanging system, and what’s included as well as the weight.
- Size: Everlast’s Core bag is about 3 feet tall and 11 inches wide at 60 lb. TITLE’s Greatest is 48 x 16 inches at 110 lb. Titan’s Power Strike is a 78 lb ball shape, 25 inches tall.
- Hanging: Everlast says the dual straps on its Elite run quieter than chains. TITLE’s Greatest needs a swivel bought separately.
In our judgment, heavier bags swing less and suit strong hitters, and lighter ones move more and suit footwork. We found no research that sets a best weight.
Freestanding bags
These skip mounting, so check the base’s filled weight first. Everlast’s Core weighs about 32 lb with water, so expect it to move. Everlast’s Powercore holds about 250 lb with water or 370 lb with sand. Century’s Wavemaster adjusts from 47 to 68 inches and reaches about 250 lb with water. A full base is hard to move, so fill it where it will stay.
Speed bags
You need a platform and swivel as well as the bag, and it’s easy to buy only part of that. Everlast’s platform comes without a bag, while TITLE’s complete set includes bag, swivel, and hardware for wood or masonry walls. Titan’s rack platform bolts to a power rack. In our judgment, the rattle carries through studs, so think about neighbors. We found no research on speed bags.
Gloves and wraps
TITLE’s Classic Super bag gloves come in 8 to 16 oz, Everlast’s Elite has an attached thumb and the same range, and TITLE’s Gel World is all leather.
Research doesn’t pin down a best glove. A retrospective survey of 62 Greek boxers linked glove size during bag work to finger fractures, thumb injuries, and wrist pain, but the abstract doesn’t say which sizes fared better. In 10 experienced fighters, 10 oz gloves held the thumb further from the hand than a bare fist. That study didn’t track injuries.
For wraps, TITLE says its 180-inch length helps you wrap between the fingers, and Everlast’s Core is a shorter 120 inches. In 18 elite male boxers, adding rigid tape to bandages cut wrist motion on impact by 25 to 30%. That’s a motion finding, and it doesn’t show fewer injuries.
Mounts and stands
Beam mount
The cheapest and cleanest setup, if the structure can take it.
Wall hanger
Hardware matters as much as the arm. Some makers sell it separately.
Bag stand
No drilling, but it takes real floor space and has a bag weight limit.
Freestanding bag
Nothing to mount. Hard hitters can walk a light base across the floor.
- Beam: We can’t tell you what your building will hold. Have someone qualified check any joist or beam, because a swinging bag loads it harder than its dead weight.
- Wall hanger: TITLE’s Classic holds bags to 150 lb on a 48-inch arm, with hardware sold separately. TITLE’s USA-made hanger holds 300 lb on a 28-inch arm.
- Stand: Everlast’s stand has a 66.5 x 47.6 inch footprint and takes bags to 100 lb. TITLE’s adds a speed bag platform and fits under 8 ft ceilings. Titan’s post rates 300 lb on a 12 x 12 inch base with holes for floor anchors, and its 8 ft 6 in setting won’t fit an 8 ft room.
Stay inside the listed limit: a 100 lb stand rules out TITLE’s 110 lb bag.
What injury data shows, and what it can’t
| Study | Scope | Key findings |
|---|---|---|
| 1990 to 2008 | All boxing, about 165,602 estimated | Hand 33%, head and neck 22.5%. Punching bags tied to 36.8% |
| 2014 to 2023 | Upper limb, 106,903 estimated | Hand 48.3%, wrist 18.9%, fractures 26.4%. Admitted 3.3% |
| 2013 to 2022 | 959 fractures | Hand 53.6%. Home cases rose in 2020 to 2022 |
All use the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System. Figures are from the abstracts.
These count emergency visits, so minor injuries never appear. The 36.8% isn’t a risk rate, since nobody counted how many people use bags, and “boxing” also mixes bag work with sparring. The fracture study’s authors suspect home sparring explains the pandemic shift, but they didn’t measure it.
For effort, nine experienced boxers reached 67.5%, 74.8%, and 83% of maximum heart rate on a bag at 60, 120, and 180 punches a minute. That’s a small study of skilled athletes, but pace clearly drives the effort.
What to check before buying
| Check | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Support | Limit above your bag weight | Failure here is the biggest risk |
| Hardware | Included, or sold separately | Adds cost, depends on wall type |
| Base | Filled weight | Light bases slide |
| Height | Stand against your ceiling | Tall stands may not fit |

Safety
- Start at low power. Build technique before hard shots, and skip bare-knuckle bag work.
- Wrap every session. That’s our advice from the hand injury pattern, since no study here tested it.
- Check the mount. Inspect bolts, chains, and straps before each session.
- Stop for warning signs. Get swollen knuckles checked. End the session for chest pain or dizziness, and talk to a physician first if you have a heart condition or haven’t trained hard in a long time.
A CPSC title search on Nov 5, 2026 for punching, boxing, and heavy bag notices returned nothing, though recalls under other wording are possible. For another bag to train with, see our core bags guide.
FAQ
Is Punchfit an equipment brand?
As far as we can find, no. Punchfit is an Australian boxing course name tied to Punch Equipment, an Australian boxing gear company. Its site showed Punchfit courses, books, and shirts, but no bags or gloves under that name.
What punch fitness equipment do I need to start?
Hand wraps, bag gloves, and one bag with a safe support. Wraps start near $5, gloves near $35, and bags near $40.
Should I buy a hanging or freestanding punching bag?
Choose hanging if you have a checked beam, a suitable wall, or room for a stand. Choose freestanding if you rent or can't drill, but expect light bases to slide when you hit hard.
Are hand wraps necessary for bag work?
We'd use them. Everlast recommends wraps under gloves, and US emergency data shows the hand is the most commonly injured area in boxing. We found no study testing wraps against no wraps for home bag users.
